Small World

In our world, it is miniscule

It has packed a worldly punch

It also can be very cruel

Will last years, just a hunch

COVID does not discriminate

Colour, religion, language does not matter

Its only purpose is to self-create

Let’s learn from this world in tatters

Elderly need more attention

Medical professionals are heroes, all day

Many others deserve a mention

Hope our governments do more than just, say “

Cheers for those on the front line

To politicians that lead with good governance

It helped us all, while in this bind

Lessons learned should not just be utterance

Soap, water, 20 seconds, make a lather

Stay home, it is a safety matter

Always 2 metres if we must gather

Wear a mask, because it matters

Since COVID has created more of a mess

Anything at all, is the request

To remember those, with even less

Be kind and friendly, it makes us our best

Since we can no longer roam

New Normal

The days merge to one another

New routines come together

Is it already May or other?

Cannot tell by the weather

At home, more cooking and baking

Fixing things that have been breaking

No more lunches with friends

Many pictures with a zoom lens

Since we can no longer roam

Haircut for him at home

For her, a change in colour dye

Fancy or funny you decide

Visits from the driveway

Zoom meetings in our midst

Bridge those friendships for another day

Spend some time and reminisce

Soap, water, 20 seconds, make a lather

Stay home, it is a safety matter

Always 2 metres if we must gather

Wear a mask, because it matters

Store entering is now not a must

Things delivered are a big plus

Online ordering is a slam dunk

And groceries dropped in the trunk

Travel plans on hold

Maybe for a year we are told

Afternoon trips to see the countryside

Let’s see life on the sunny side
