The Rotary Club of Sarnia has made a $4000 donation to help the INN of the Good Shepherd during the COVID-19 crisis.
President Sandra Graham said "we were planning to send a number of area youth to conferences in London and Ottawa this May, but due to COVID-19 they’ve been cancelled. So we decided to donate the unspent funds to Sarnia’s Inn of the Good Shepherd."
“Why not redirect the money budgeted for the cancelled Rotary events to the Inn,” said Graham. “We had it set aside already, and we know someone can use this money now. It’s the right thing to do. It’s like turning lemons into lemonade.”
Rotarian Michael John Kooy surprised the Inn’s Executive Director Myles Vanni with a cheque for $4,000 this week.
“It’s tremendous,” said Vanni. “We have to stay open during this period. These funds help us make sure that food is there for people who need it.”
The Inn has been forced to cancel major fundraisers, including its popular CANstruction event normally held at Lambton Mall, due to COVID-19.
